ДИСКИН Мордехай (1844, Гродно – 1914, Яффа), писатель, педагог. В 18 лет получил звание раввина. С 1877 в Э.-И., где купил участок земли в Петах-Тикве. Занимался сел. х-вом, но после того, как его сын выстрелом ранил грабителя, он, опасаясь мести, переехал с семьей в Иерусалим. Затем вернулся в Петах-Тикву и стал извозчиком, перевозил пассажиров и грузы между Петах-Тиквой и Яффой. По вечерам преподавал Мишну и Шулхан Арух. Позже переехал в Яффу. В кон. жизни стал торговцем, изучал Тору и занимался благотворительной деятельностью. Д. – один из основателей талмуд-торы «Нецах Исраэль» в Петах-Тикве, первой совр. религ. школы в стране.
