ДАВИДОВ Август Юлиевич (1823, Либава Гробинского у. Курляндской губ. – 1886, Москва), математик, механик. Демидовская пр. АН (1848, 1850). Окончил Моск. ун-т (1845). Магистр (1848), д-р (1851). С 1850 и до конца жизни работал в Моск. ун-те. Учитель Н.Е.Жуковского. Один из основателей Моск. матем. об-ва и его през. (1866—86). Осн. результаты относятся к теории равновесия плавающих тел, теории капиллярных явлений, интегрированию уравнений с частными производными, теории вероятностей с приложениями к демографии и медицине, разл. вопросам анализа.
