Участвовал в созд. первой Ортодоксальной конгрегации рус. евреев в Америке («Бет Мидраш га-Гадол»), где был раввином с 1860 вплоть до своей кончины. Имея стабильную материальную базу, оказывал большую финансовую поддержку конгрегации. В 1880 создал об-во «Кашрут», а в 1884 – «Талмуд Тора». Яростный противник реформистских теч. в иудаизме. @ru
