С 1907 выступал в детской труппе антрепренера Горина, затем играл у Н.Н.Соловцова в Киеве и в др. драматич. т-рах. С 1919 работал на эстраде и в цирке. В 1922 поставил в Киевском цирке пантомиму «Мариэтта и клоун Пипо», в 1920-х гг. выступал в танц. номере «Люси и Арнольд», а также в квартете чечеточников «Фоли». С 1930-х гг. А. работал в мюзик-холлах; в Ленингр. мюзик-холле поставил обозрения «Отцы города» А.С.Бухова и А.А.Д’Актиля (1932), «Невеста и автомат» М.Фролова и И.Ефремова (1934), в Ленингр. цирке – новую редакцию пантомимы «Черный пират» (совм. с Е.П.Гершуни, 1934), в Моск. мюзик-холле – программу для Теа-джаза Л.О.Утесова «Музыкальный магазин» Н.Р.Эрдмана и В.З.Масса (1938, совм. с Утесовым), поставил ряд номеров для Э.Т.Кио: «Домик на окраине Парижа», «Голова с Уолл-стрита», «Речь поджигателя войны» и др. В 1941 А. ставит один из лучших спектаклей А.И.Райкина – «Не проходите мимо!» В.С.Полякова.В 1943–45 – А. гл. реж. Моск. цирка, в 1956–60 – художеств, рук., затем гл. реж. Центр. студии циркового иск-ва. В 1950–60-х гг. А. реж. представления «Арена дружбы» (совм. с М.С.Местечкиным, 1955), балетно-циркового представления на льду (совм. с Л.М.Лавровским, 1959), «Загадочный кристалл» И.В.Луковского (Плават. бассейн центр. стадиона в Лужниках, 1960), цирковой программы с иллюзионным аттракционом З.А.Тарасовой (Центр. парк культуры и отдыха им. М.Горького, 1963), «Цирк на льду» (премьера в Тульском цирке, 1964) и др. Засл. деятель иск-в РСФСР (1963).
