АЛЬТМАН Арье (1902, Балта Подольской губ. – 1982), полит. деятель. Один из лидеров ревизионистского движения в сионизме. Р. в семье препод. иврита, лидера местн. сионистов. Изучал экономику и юриспруденцию в Новороссийском ун-те (Одесса), позже специализировался по социологии и политич. наукам в США. Д-р социологии. Активист «Цеирей Цион» в Одессе. После установления сов. власти подвергался репрессиям и в 1924 был выслан из России. В начале 1925 приехал в Э.-И. В 1928 отправился в США для продолжения учебы и там примкнул к сионистам-ревизионистам. Благодаря своей активной деятельности А. был избран пред. ревиз. движения в США. Вернулся в Э.-И. в 1935 и начал работать в печатном органе ревизионистского движения «Га-Ярден». В 1937 был избран рук. ревизионистского движения в Э.-И. В 1938 назначен личным предс. З.Жаботинского в Польше. С началом 2-й мир. войны возвратился в Э.-И., где продолжал свою общественную и полит, деятельность в рамках ревизионистского движения.
