- בהקדמתו הארוכה כותב שלמה דובנא: "נצטערתי על אשר נשכח מאתנו תורת כתיבת ספרי הנביאים והכתובים כדינם וכהלכתם על הקלף הכשר ובדיו הכשר ובקולמוס... לא נשאר בידינו רק כתיבת ספר התורה ומגלת אסתר כמשפטן בעבור ההכרח" לקרוא אותם בציבור. עושה סקירה של הספרים, המודפסים והלא מודפסים, ספריהם של מחברים אשר "הביאו בתוך ספריהם קצת מסורות גדולות וקטנות" כדי "להסיר כל בדילי שבושיהן. מבקר תשומת הלב המועטה שניתנה לנביאים וכתובים, ומתייחס ל"קדושת דברי הדפוס", לויכוח על קדושת הספרים המודפסים. מזכיר את פועלו (שטרם השלים) בהוצאת ספרי התורה.
