- בהקדשה לזאב וואלף (עמ' [1-2]), עוסק המחבר ביחסים בין אב לבן, וכן הוא עוסק בנושא חובות אב לבנו בהקדמה (עמ' [4]). בהקדמה ישנה גם התייחסות ליחסי מורים ותלמידים: ליחסי אב-מורה-בן: של דוד ועלי הכהן אל חפני ופנחס ואבשלום (עמ' [6-7]). המחבר מדבר בזכות החינוך למוסר באמצעות משלים, ולא באמצעות הפחדה (עמ' [7-8]). משל המצפן (עמ' [68-71]) עושה שימוש בתכונות המצפן לתיאור המשיכה לתכונות מוסריות מול הדחייה מן התכונות לא-מוסריות, וגם - הצבעה על הכיוון המוסרי הנכון. בהקדמה מדקדק המחבר בידע המדעי, ומציג את התיאוריה המדעית הסותרת את זה המתוארת במשל (עמ' [8-9]).
