All notes by Chaim Meiselman: General Note Illustrated title; architechtural scheme imposed over the center text, with large depictions of (classical) Moses and (semitic) Aaron on each side-column. General Note Layout of the text for this edition: The center paragraph contains Joseph Karo's Shulhan Arukh with Moses Isserles' Mapah; the gutter-edge margin is composed of Moses Lima's Ḥelḳat Meḥoḳeḳ, and the outer margin is that of Samuel b. Uri Phoebus' Beit Shemu'el. General Note On leaves 142b - 148b there is a break in the text and (as an excursus) features Samuel b. Uri Phoebus' "Ḳunṭros Shemot ha-Anashim u-Bet Shemot ha-Nashim" ('miniature-tract regarding the names of men, and [also] the names of women'), a composition dealing with the proper Hebrew spelling of Yiddish and Germanic names; the subject of such writing was legal in nature and used for divorce documents, with the intention being that only a normalized and regular spelling will be legally binding to the subjects (and witnesses) in Bet-Din. After this excursus is another called "Ḳetsat shemot 'ayyarot ve-neharot", transl. 'various names of cities and rivers', authored by Eliezer b. Solomon Lipshutz for his Damesek Eli'ezer (printed in Neuwied, 1749); this served as a loose-ordered lexicon of Hebraicized names for German-Yiddish areas legalized for Beth-din divorce documents. General Note Haskamot on this edition: Samuel Heilman of Metz; Yitshak-Zekyl Ötthausen of Pfersee; Eli'ezer b. Mosheh Katzenellenbogen of Haguenau; Naftali-Hirsch b. Mosheh Katzenellenbogen of Main-Tauber-Kreis with Aube; Nathaniel Weill of Kahrlsruhe; and an introduction of the printer, Haim b. Tsevi-Hirsch of Fürth.- Place
