Title also contains a printers device and a dedication to Alexander I of Russia "Aleksandr Pavlevich" (1777-1825). This - along with the 1803 edition of Orakh Ḥaim - were the inaugural editions for the commentary by Elijah b. Solomon of Vilna (1720-1797), known as Gr"a (acronym for Ga’on Rav Eliyahu). The edition’s print layout features a column of the text (Joseph Karo and Moses Isserles) to the outer portions of the page, while Elijah’s commentary straddles the larger aspect of the gutter-edge. On the margin-edge, Moses Rivkes’ Be’er ha-Golah is printed in a thin column in small print. The publishers of this edition were Yehuda-Leib and Avraham, both sons of Elijah of Vilna. The additional publishers were Menaḥem-Mendl b.
