According to some scholars he converted to Christianity and died in a St. Petersburg asylum. Chabad sources claim that his conversion and related documents were faked by the Church.\nSee Wikipedia for more on his biography. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moshe_Schneersohn\nIn regards to his wife Shifra much is not known, although recently her grave was found in Jerusalem, it is known she stayed on living on her own and raising her kids alone, from this inscription we learn that she stayed on living in the court of her husband’s family the rebbes of Lubavitch. (In Chabad sources it is mentioned that she left to Israel immediately after her husband has left her in 1816 see http://chabadpedia.co.il/index.php/%D7%A9%D7%A4%D7%A8%D7%94_(%D7%9B%D7%9C%D7%AA_%D7%90%D7%93%D7%9E%D7%95%22%D7%A8_%D7%94%D7%96%D7%A7%D7%9F) that said this inscription must be written between the years of 1813-1816, [Reb Shnier Zalmen lived till 1813 and is mentioned here after his passing].)";
