Columbia collection history: http://library.columbia.edu/locations/rbml/units/Hebraica/history.html Note that three other Talmud tractates are bound together with Rosh Hashanah, Moed Katan, Ta'anit and Hagigah. They were probably bound together in the 16th century. This is clear from the parchment used to bind the book together. These pieces of parchment can be found holding all four tractates together and are pieces from Justinian's Pandects, Book 9, Title 4 and this was the type of binding found in books printed in the 16th century. Oddly, the fly leaf paper (at the beginning of the volume) is much thinner than in the other volumes, including volume 1, 5 and 6 and the paper feels more fragile, possibly from more use. This volume is from Bomberg's second printing. The first page states in Italian (black ink/upside down), "This Gemara do not miss/overlook."And in brown ink there are doodles, one of a face, one of a dog, and one of a sheep. In the same brown ink at the end of the volume after Masekhet Hagigah there is a picture of a man with a beard and breasts. (see entry on Masekhet Hagigah, Columbia University).- Owner
