In this copy found at Columbia of Bava Batra there are notes in the margins that appear to be inserted by the same person (that is the handwriting looks the same throughout). It appears that the owner went through the entire massekhet making some points in the texts of the Talmud themselves about different versions, but these do not occur frequently. Most of his comments seem to refer to Rashi as he may have had another manuscript or printed version of Rashi on Bava Batra, some comments also recommend insertions into Tosafot as well. There are no signatures in the front flyleafs, although the book has been rebound and seems to have less introductory flyleaf pages than other volumes here at Columbia that were not rebound. The Title page is also upside down. It is hard to tell if this belongs to the same set as volumes 6 and 7. Also the bookplate does not have Temple Emanu-el on it which is curious. However, this volume is accounted for in Roest’s catalog of the Almanzi collection, so we can infer that it came with the TE donation. Ed.
