This is not the Spanish rabbi of the early 15th century named Abraham Benveniste, but is probably a less well-known descendant who lived after the printing of this second printing of the Bomberg Talmud. His name is rubbed out in the Hebrew block letters appearing on the top of the first flyleaf. It can still be made out. It appears again in Spanish/Italian on the same flyleaf (vertically). It looks like it was part of a collection of Bomberg volumes owned by this family. The material evidence matches volumes 6, and 7 in the Columbia University collection. The cover is similar, the parchment in the binding with Latin is also in evidence and the many flyleaves. There are no handwritten marks inside this volume. There is no bookplate referring us to Frederik Muller & Cie.- Owner
