Notes
קניתי מהוני בית חדש ואברך שהחיינו הק' ליזר כ"ץ --- י"ב פרץ - Bought with my money, the Bayit Ḥadash, and I have blessed (the blessing of) she-heḥiyyanu .. Leser ha-Kohen ... y.b. (yelude bene = descendants of) Perets; appx. 1770. There is a joke being written here. Bayit Hadash, the name of the volume, also means 'new house'; according to the Halakhah, one who buys a new home must say 'She-hehiyyanu', a blessing of thanks; the owner writes that he bought Bayyit Hadash and then blessed She'he'hiyyanu as a blessing of thanks.
