TU volume donated to the Baltimore Hebrew College and Teachers Training School, subsequently the Baltimore Hebrew University and now the Baltimore Hebrew Institute at Towson University, between 1949-1951 by Jewish Cultural Reconstruction, Inc. (JCR). JCR, a subsidiary of the Jewish Restitution Successor Organization, was established as the custodian of heirless books, art, artifacts, and ritual objects confiscated from their owners by order of the German National Socialist (Nazi) Government. These items were ultimately distributed by JCR to scholarly institutions in the United States, Israel, Europe, and Latin America.
