                "Name is on the lower right.  Can you help?\n\nFirst image is intentionally upside down because the inscription was upside down.\n\nSecond image shows another inscription for \"Avraham,\" but the second word seems to say Yafeh.  Can you help? in identifying whether this is one or two people?  Is the word after the name a place?\n\nChaim Meiselman reads:  אברהם כהן די הי ריקי ? חי ריקי? then יצ\"ו\n\nAND, it appears that the margin inscription reads \"... Castanos de Ancone\", likely Ancona.\n\nFrom Fabrizio Quaglia: \n\nOn the top of page I read: “Aa / que aya un desdizhado / que aza en desdichade / que que tenga pasiensia”, modern Spanish: “Haga / que haya un desdichado / que aça [= acá] en desdichado / qué [?] que tenga paciencia”, transl. “Let there be a wretch in misery here who take patience”. At the bottom, on the left: “Lẏvro [= Livro] he de / Cuzarẏ”, transl. “Here’s the book of Kuzari”; on the right: “A ose amigo Abraam / Castanho de can [missing a letter?] conne”, transl. (incomplete) “To … friend Abraham Castanho of …”.\n\nFor Abraham Castanho, see Jewish Encyclopedia, III, p. 603: “Spanish poet; lived at Amsterdam in the middle of the seventeenth century. He was the author of an elegy on the martyr Abraham Nuñez of Bernal, who was burned at Cordova May 3, 1655. It was inserted in “Elogios que Zelosos Dedicaron á la Felice Memoria,” etc., published probably at Amsterdam in 1656.” This elegy (an “endecha”, a medieval musical qinah used in the Iberian Jewish community) was entitled A las prendas del mártir (“To the Garments of the Martyr”), divided in 15 stanzas. So wrote Camille Pitollet, Sur un livre oublié de poésies judéo-espagnoles, “Cultura española”, XII, 1908, pp. 977-1022 (A las prendas del mártir is named on p. 994); printed in Elogios are the first 46 stanzas of a very long Canto, composed by Castanho (text on pp. 994-1005), a Castanho’s sonnet (text on p. 1012), and are named his Decimas, in 4 stanzas (p. 1017). A. Castanho could have also written the Octavas de corte mayor, 4 stanzas, and an Eligia which follows in the book (these are named on p. 994).\n\nI think that in this context zelosos stands for “believers”.\n\nAnd now, my supposition. An unnamed descendent of marranos, who kept his languages (Hebrew and Spanish/Portuguese) while living outside Sefarad, gave this apologetic book to a probable member of his entourage: Abraham Castanho, another Sephardic Jew.";
