Can you help? The owner gives the date as 14 Shevat תפ--which he names as a Friday. But this date is a Wednesday. Can another pair of eyes read this differently? The owner names a city (in the image on the left), but I cannot decipher. Can you help? Fabrizio Quaglia clarifies: The right date in Ya‘aqov Baruk b. Yehudah Landau’s Sefer Agur (http://footprints.ccnmtl.columbia.edu/footprint/8304/) is not January 24 1720 but Friday 10 February 1645; the place mentioned is Modena. In fact, I saw on its title page, containing a cancelled Hebrew signature too, an ownership of Abraham Joseph Solomon Graziano expressed by his initials: הארור יצ"ו אי"ש ג"ר חאו"ע פסקו ספר עם מענו סגרות... Followed by: קניתי אותו אברהם יוסף שלמה יצ"ו...פה מודינא ביום הששי י"ד שבט...שנת ת"ה לפ"ק...י פיברארא אלף תרמ"ה למניינם מיורשי כ"מ ישראל סנגויני ז"ל היינו...מכ"מ ברוך סנגויני וכשם אתיו כמ אליעזר סנגויני... … . Here’s my simplified translation: “Avraham Yosef Šelomoh Graziano, and despised by peoples, may his Rock keep him and grant him life. I have Sefer Agur. With answer closures … I bought it … the living Abraham Joseph Solomon [Graziano] … here in Modena, on the sixth day, 14 of Shevat, year 405 of the minor era … 10 Fibruara, one thousands and 645 according to them [i.e.: the Christians] …, from the heirs of the late Israel Sanguini, … they were the honorable Baruch Sanguini and his honorable brother Eli‘ezer Sanguini”. On top of folio 1r of Parma, Palatina Library, Cod. Parm. 690, we can read a similar note with the same people named, in that case Graziano also wrote that he had bought another 10 volumes from brothers Sanguini, see Hebrew manuscripts in the Biblioteca Palatina in Parma. Catalogue, edited by Benjamin Richler; paleographical and codicological descriptions: Malachi Beit-Arié, Jerusalem, Jewish national and university library, 2001, p. 110, nr. 575 (this scanned folio is available in Ktiv: https://web.nli.org.il/sites/nli/hebrew/digitallibrary/pages/viewer.aspx?presentorid=MANUSCRIPT S&docid=PNX_MANUSCRIPTS000090514-1#|FL7110796)). A shortened Graziano ownership, without names of heirs of I. Sanguini, is on a fly-leaf of the same Sefer Agur in Footprints.- Owner
