TU Rare Book Collection copy: Inscribed הק' יוחנן - 'Yoḥanan' on top of title, appx. 1800. In what is apparently the same hand, an inscription on the paste-down below the the inscription of Herz Rapaport: 'נתתי במתנה גמורה להרב מהור"ר קאפל לעווענשטייו מר' | הערץ הערצקע ראפיפר[ט] | יוחנן [הו"י]'. Translation: 'Given as a full gift to Kopel Lowenstein from | Herz Herzke Rapaport | Yoḥanan'. Inscribed by the same hand over the title ornaments: 'קבלתי מאח ה"ק לז"נ | אבי ז"ל'. Translation: 'I received [it] from my brother [Herz] | in the memory of | father, peace be on him". Inscribed below: קאפל סג"ל - 'Kopel Sega"l' in script. Explanation of this set of inscriptions: Yoḥanan Rapaport, brother of Herz and son of Simha-Bunem, the author, received this volume about 1800 from his brother Herz. Later, Yoḥanan gifted the volume to Koppel Löwenstein in memory of his father Simha-Bunem, which places the date of this transaction after 1814. - Koppel Löwenstein (1791-1865) was a Talmudist and rabbinical figure in Güglingen in the general Heilbronn district in Germany, and likely was a student of Asher Günzberg, a rabbi in Wallerstien, Bavaria, and son of the famous Talmudist Aryeh-Leib Günzberg (1695-1785) of Metz, author of 'Sha'agat 'Aryeh'.- Owner
