TU Rare Book Collection copy: Heavily inscribed endpapers, contemporary to the volume. On the obverse, neatly written notes in Rabbinic script cover the page, with each line headed by a chapter in the book ('Siman x'). The notes are of novellae from inside the text; references to Jacob b. Asher's Turim, Karo's Shulhan Arukh, David ha-levi's Turei Zahav are written repeatedly. At the bottom, after a break - the writer ends his list of novellae by demanding not to be judged harshly by future generations of readers for his disagreements with the authors of the volume, (ע"כ [עד כאן] מי שיבוא אחרי ויראה שמה שכתבתי או שרשמתי ושאלתו היא שלא כהוגן ודמאתו לע"ה [עמי הארץ] כמי שלעולם לא למד שאם לא כך הוא יבא כמליץ בעדי), but to re-read and see his perspective, and finally to argue forcefully in his defense. - On the reverse of the front endpaper, another Rabbinic script of ledger-inscriptions of dates of births deaths and marriages in a family. No surnames or places are written; dates only recorded of deaths (to the right end of the leaf) aside from one marriage 27th August 1839; latest date is a death Sept. 1852. note: there are both French and German month names on the ledger of births and deaths, leading me to believe it was written in a place where they were both the vernacular - Alsace-Lorraine or Switzerland.
