Hebrew inscription next to the title: ספר הלז שייך לכמ"ר יהודא ב"ר אשר מפעקלסים קניתי בעד" מ"ו הי"ו נעשה יום א. ד ניסן תקל"ו לפ"ק" - 'This book here is owned by the Honorable Yehudah b. Asher of Peckelsheim (Amt-Peckelsheim, Warburg-Willesbaden (middle Westphalia), Germany), bought in honor of my master and teacher (also father), may God watch him and protect him ... on this Sunday 4 Nisan 5536 (24 March 1776)'. German inscription : "dieses wort [gasede?] | Zecken liest [gasede?] | gern Juden leist [man?] | Seligman Schutzgrünnde | Poln zu Peikls.h. | [vorsichten?] tag 24 _ | Marsz 1776" - 'You read this material, this material creeps on you [?], [read] with pleasure the Jewish readin (book), Seligman Schutzgrünnde, Poland to Peckelsheim, [now on the specific] day 24 March (in Polish) 1776'. The German inscription is strange but it shows that the recipient was Polish and didn't employ proper German. Browning quill inscriptions.- Owner
