- This is Columbia's second copy of Masekhet Shabbat, not to be confused with another copy, volume 1, that they own and that is bound together with Eruvin.

This copy of Massekhet Shabbat was clearly in different hands and took a different path before Frederik Muller, the bookdealer, collected and sold it to Temple Emanu-el in 1868. This copy is interesting because of the notes in its margins which refer to parallel sugot, not by page number, but by chapter/perek. It is as if the person who wrote in the notes did not have a complete and standardized edition of Masekhet Shabbat with page numbers. That said, there are a few places where there are actual page numbers, as for example in the second and third chapters. This leads me to believe that the person who was working with this copy only had some material already standardized and not all of the massekhet. Some of the page numbers are quite high and could not possibly refer to a massekhet of Talmud, possibly these are numbers that refer to codes. See images.- Owner
