                "Fabrizio Quaglia notes the interesting and important stamp datable between 1620 and 1635, \"PANDVLPHI·DE·RICASOLIS·BARONIBVS·CANO·FLOR”, (“Of the canon of Florence Pandolfo of the Baron family Ricasoli”), with the Christogram IHS used as an coat of arms by the Jesuits, followed by the manuscript number 1119 that was the volume location in his library. \n\nPandolfo Ricasoli (1581-1657) was a Florentine canon and spiritual director of the 17th century, member of the Society of Jesus since 1602 to 1611, condemned by the Inquisition. He developed a doctrine according to which the soul was elevated to God through the practice of sexual intercourse. The doctrine was put into practice in the house for girls directed by Ricasoli himself. The small sect living there aroused the suspicions of the Florentine Inquisition. Ricasoli attempted to lighten his position by presenting himself spontaneously to the Inquisition and confessing everything. Despite this, the trial ended with his condemnation to perpetual immurement (November 20, 1641; followed, on November 28, by a spectacular public abjuration in Santa Croce). On 20 April 1635 he had donated his library to the Discalced Carmelites of S. Paolino in Florence . Ricasoli studied Hebrew at the University of Pisa. Details on his life and his big library, including prohibited books, are in Maria Chiara Flori, Eresia e scandalo nel '600: la biblioteca di Pandolfo Ricasoli, “Rinascimento”, XLIV, 2004, pp. 379-408, and Maria Pia Paoli, sub voce, in Dizionario Biografico degli Italiani, Roma, Istituto della Enciclopedia italiana,LXXXVII, 2016, online here . One can see the same stamp here  on a Greek volume of the Biblioteca Nazionale Marciana of Venice, formerly in Biblioteca del Convento dei Carmelitani Scalzi di San Paolino in Florence.\n\nNote: a work not found in the reconstruction of Ricasoli's library in Maria Chiara Flori, \"Eresia e scandalo nel '600: la biblioteca di Pandolfi Ricasoli,\" Rinascimento 44 (2004): 379-408. https://blogs.bodleian.ox.ac.uk/mullerlibrary/2013/10/30/a-17th-century-scandal/#:~:text=%E2%80%9CThe%20canon%20Pandolfo%20Ricasoli%2C%20a,directed%20a%20school%20of%20youn";
