In 1993, the Annenberg Research Institute merged with the University of Pennsylvania and its collection of Judaica then belonged to the Center for Advanced Judaic Studies which then was renamed the Library of the Katz Center for Advanced Judaic Studies after Herbert D. Katz in 2008. Bruce Nielson, the Judaic Public Services Librarian and Archivist at the Katz Library for Advanced Judaic Studies, informed me that often the volumes that we have in our collections are the ones that were used less frequently. Indeed, the volumes of Bomberg's first printed edition of the Talmud that are present in the Katz Center Library are those tractates that were not studied as often. Tractates Zevahim and Yoma are there, but not Berakhot or Shabbat, Bava Kamma or Sanhedrin. They may have been destroyed by too much use. Footprints indicates that there were many copies of Zevahim that are presently in collections, copies of Berakhot for example, are missing more often than not.- Owner
