The inscription reads: יום ו בבוקר שני בר"ח אלול תח"י לפרט ולסדר צדק צדק תרדוף למען תח"י מלה(?) בני צדיק באמונתו יחיה הנקרא בשם צבי שי לאיש השם יזכני לגדלו לתורה לחופה ולמע"ט ולעבודת הבורה For further research: If this was indeed written by Jacob of Vilna, it seems to put the date of the Hakham Tzvi's birth two years later than previously assumed (1658 instead of 1656), and would also give us an exact birthdate (1 Elul). The inscription is signed below in what is clearly Hakham Tzvi's handwriting, "יתעלה זכרו לעד" Roest notes: Mit einig, hdschr. Randbemerkungen Jak. Emden's. — Auf Fol. 80b hat der Vater d. Z'bi H. Aschk'nasi des Letztern Geburtstag verzeichnet.- Owner
