Some of the Bomberg Talmuds in the Yale collection were the gift of Rebekah Bettelheim Kohut, some were bought with funds she donated and some were gifted to Yale at an earlier point by her stepson, George Kohut. Many of the books that George Kohut donated to Yale were owned by his father, Alexander Kohut. A letter attached here to the librarian at JTS, Alexander Marx, notes that Rebekah had her own collection of books. I cannot be sure whether this volume of the Bomberg Talmud came from her collection or she purchased it for Yale, or Yale purchased it with her funds to complete a set of the Bomberg Talmud (first printing). It is not clear to me whether Bomberg intended for all tractates of Menahot to be bound with all of the Mishnayot from the entire Seder along with Maimonides' commentary. However they are bound together in the copy found at Yale. This copy (and another found also at) HUC JIR in Cincinnati is just Masekeht Menahot. This means that copies of the same print run (the same imprint) were bound in different ways.- Owner
