The 1609 catalog is a copy of an inventory made in 1596. In 1598, Lumley sent a number of books to Cambridge University Library. (see Sears and Jayne, p.12). Bush and Rasmussen speculates that that the Lumley books came to Emmanuel in this same period. (The Library of Emmanuel College Cambridge, 1584-1637, Cambridge: Emmanuel College, 1986, p. 14). See discussion at footprint 2858 regarding possible conflation of 1524 and 1541 editions. However, Bush and Rasmussen did not see this edition listed in the 1597 inventory of the Emmanuel College Library and list a probably acquisition date for this particular book as 1622-26. It is possible that this was missed on the 1597 inventory or was donated late.- Owner
