- There is a small white paper at the back of the volume which has a date of June 18, 1948 and then says "FUND" and then the word "plain." This means that the volume was purchased with general library funds, probably to try to complete the set of Bomberg Talmuds.

What distinguishes this volume from the other volumes found in the Beinecke Library is the pages. Bava Kama for example (vol. 20) is damaged considerably by worm holes. Baba Batra is more pristine with pages whose edges are dotted with blue. While it has clearly been rebound, it …
What distinguishes this volume from the other volumes found in the Beinecke Library is the pages. Bava Kama for example (vol. 20) is damaged considerably by worm holes. Baba Batra is more pristine with pages whose edges are dotted with blue. While it has clearly been rebound, it was not cut as close to the words on the page as Bava Kama and there is more room in the left and right margins, as compared to Baba Kama. While it is possible that Yale rebound the book, it was not part of the same set as Bava Kama, arriving at Yale in different years. It seems that Yale was trying to complete its set of Bomberg first printings of the Talmud and acquired them over several decades. Volume 21 is missing. I assume this is Bava Metzia.
