- This copy of Masekhet Kiddushin (Bomberg, first printing) was donated to Yale University by the son of Alexander (Hanokh Yehudah) Kohut, George Alexander Kohut, in memory of his father. He donated approximately 5000 volumes to Yale.

It seems that most of his father's books were donated by George Kohut to Yale in 1915, but others were donated at a later date. George's stepmother who outlived him then continued to donate to Yale until her death in 1951. A fund that the family set up, the Kohut Memorial Foundation Fund, continues to earn interest and Yale continues to draw money from it for the restoration of books in the collection. This volume is not bound with any others as we find in other cases of tractates of Bomberg's Talmud. It is from Bomberg's first printing and has a date of 1520 in the catalogue. There is no title page, it is missing and it looks like it has been rebound. The paper used has a stamp that says, MADE IN AUSTRIA. Also note that there are no fly leaves (blank pages) which appear in some copies of Bomberg Talmuds books bound in Venice in the 1520s (as like those in the Columbia collection) . There is no handwriting in this volume, but it shows signs of wear and tear.- Owner
