Title page:קבלתי במתנה מהעזבון של הנגיד המפורסם ר' משה שמואל בבראמבערג ביום הי״??? ט״ב [תשעה באב] תרכ״ז לפ״ק. נחום שטרייזאנד. (‘I received this as gift from the estate of the famous community elder Mosheh Shmu’el in Bromberg [then province of Posen, Prussia; today Bydgoszcz, Poland], on …the Ninth of Av in the year [5]627 [8 August 1867]’). In the back of the book, there is a note in Yiddish or Judeo-German also indicating ownership of "Rabbiner Streisand." Nachum Streisand (also Nochem Streusand), born 1819 in Grodzisk (Grätz), Province of Posen. Married to Glückchen Littauer, daughter of Rabbi Jacob Littauer in Wągrowiec (Wongrowitz); 1858 rabbi in Międzyrzecz (Meseritz), Province of Posen, around 1865 rabbi in Fordon, dismissed in 1870 due to depopulation, emigrated to America and died in 1879 in San Fransciso (see "findagrave.com" (found by Dina Roginsky)).
