On this owner, see Zinberg, The German-Polish Cultural Center, p. 130; and EJ2 s.v. "Narol." Uncertain dating for this footprint: Moses ben Eliezer Katz fled Narol in 1648 and became rabbi in Metz in 1649; he died there 1659. (Of note, Moses is the father of Tuvia ha-Kohen, but there is no indication in the book copy that Tuvia owned it.) For further research: In his signature, Moses places "z"l" next to his father. If we can identity the date of Eliezer's death, we can more precisely identify the earliest date at which Moses could have acquired this book. This also has implications for footprint #2658. If Eliezer died only after Moses was in Metz, then that footprint (for Narol) should be deleted.
