According to the Annual Reports of the Librarian of Congress (for the years 1918-1920) The Library of Congress acquired 4 collections from Ephraim Deinard: 1912, 1914, 1916, and 1919. The first two were with the financial assistance from Jewish American philanthropist Jacob H. Schiff. The second two were directly from Ephraim Deinard. Since the bookplate doesn't have any mention of Jacob Schiff, therefore on can conclude that this copy was acquired directly from Deinard. According the the Annual Report of the Librarian of Congress (1920) on page 26, it describes how in May of 1914, Deinard starts out for Asia Minor and Ottoman Palestine to acquire books for the Library of Congress. From 1914-1919, the books, a collection of about 3000 items were kept in what was bow British Palestine during the duration of WWI. In 1919 this collection was transported to Cairo, Egypt and then to Alexandria from which point the collection made it to the US. There is a good chance that this book was part of this collection.- Percent complete
