Information for this footprint comes from Fabrizio Quaglia: Inside the cover, the signature “Moses” written in unconnected Latin characters with a pencil, partially covered by the sticker of the Kaufmann Collection; the same hand also signed in cursive Latin characters with a pencil on the verso of the front flyleaf, “Moses Mannheimer”. There is also a note inside the cover, written in cursive Hebrew, 19th-century Ashkenazic script, partially faded and alike covered. At the end of this volume, on an additional sheet, a handwritten vocalized penitential poem on Yom Kippur in square Hebrew written by the same Ashkenazi Jew. On folio 97v, the words ומגפה”) and plague”) and וחטאהונו”) and his sin”) are deleted with pen strokes from the text of a prayer for the Yom Kippur Qaṭan (“Minor Day of Atonement”), a practice observed by some Jews on the day preceding each New Year’s Day; lower, maybe a different hand entered a sentence in square Hebrew about the Yom Kippur Qaṭan. At the end of the volume, two additional little worn-out square Hebrew pages taken from a book printed in the 18th or 19th century, including on a side the Seliḥah (a devotional poem) יושב מלך אל רחמים כסא על”) A king sits on a throne of mercy”) sung for the Yom Kippur liturgy and the lines 6-7 (incomplete) of Exodus 34; on the other side lines taken from Psalms 79, 100 and 118.
