Information for this footprint comes from Fabrizio Quaglia: At the top of f. 2r, Hebrew cursive signature, Italian script, whose meaning is somewhat difficult to understand and even its reading is hypothetical in many parts, ... לת"ת י]?[ ע"מ ליו' פור' התכ"ח יעקב גרשון ... ... יצ"ו (“For the Fast for the day of Purim 5428 [C.E. Sunday, 26 February 1668] Ya‘aqov Geršon ..., may his Rock keep him and grant him life”); מ"ע is the acronym of מנת על if it is correct; ו'לי is short for ליום; 'פור could be short for פורים; .ישמרהו צורו ויחיהו of יצ''ו [Special thanks are due to Alexander Gordin, paleographer and staff member of the National Library of Israel, for his help in rendering this inscription.] It was impossible to identify Ya‘aqov Geršon since his probable surname or place of origin, even if it was indicated in his signature after his name, is not fully readable (it seems a שרו?בא(, because this side of the leaf is worn. In addition, he did not write the name of his father. We cannot even be sure about the date of his signature.- Owner
