Information for this footprint comes from Fabrizio Quaglia: Lower, to the right of the printed Hebrew family name הגאליקי” Dei Gallichi”, the note בעבר לקמן עין לדף”) Look below at the overleaf”) was written by a different hand. Indeed, at the bottom of folio [1]v, there is a bibliographical note by Šemu’el Ḥay mi-Lavolṭah (Samuel Vita Dalla Volta; cf. M. Weisz, pp. 130, 133, below) about the supposed apostasy of Avraham Yagel, the author of this book, כרשע Bartolocio כתב כי זה האברהם יגל נשתמד, וכבר הראה את טעותו ורשעתו החכם השלם ר' חנניה הכהן מרייגיו, חונה עתה בק''ק פיורינצא ומ''ץ ור''מ כאשר כתב אלי באגרותו הארוכה ליום י"ב יוניו ,1827 המסכים ליום ג' יז סיון התקפ''ז והיא כונוסה אצלי ותמצא בו חן ונחת: ישלם ה' פעלו אכי''ר (“The wicked Bartolocio [the Italian Hebraist and bibliographer Giulio Bartolocci, 1613-1687] wrote [in his Bibliotheca Magna Rabbinica, I, Romæ, 1675, p. 26] that this is the converted Avraham Yagel and he has already shown his mistake and his wickedness to the complete sage rabbi Ḥananyah haKohen [Anania Coen, 1757-1834] from Reggio [Emilia], now settled in the holy community of Florence, and right teacher and leader of the rabbinical academy, when he [A. Coen] wrote to me [Luzzatto] a long letter dated 12 June 1827 corresponding to the day third 17 Siwan 5587 and that is kept with me and You will find grace and comfort in it. God will reward his work. Amen, so be it”); ;קהילה קדישא of acronym the is ק''ק ;מורה צדק of מ''ץ ;ראש ישיבה of ר"מ .אמן כן יהי רצון of אכי''ר The Italian and Hebrew letter by A. Coen about Avraham Yaghel is in Kaufmann A 484/2, scanned pages 140-143. Coen denied the abovementioned statement of G. Bartolocci also in his Saggio di eloquenza ebrea esposto in lezioni pratiche, Firenze 1827, pp. 26-27. According to FEDERICA FRANCESCONI, Invisible Enlighteners. The Jewish Merchants of Modena from the Renaissance to the Emancipation, Philadelphia, University of Pennsylvania Press, 2021, p. 76, Avraham Yagel Dei Gallichi was the brother of the apostate Camillo Jaghel, not Camillo himself.- Owner
