This book was presented to the College of Jewish Studies (which later became the Spertus Institute) by The Jewish Cultural Reconstruction, Inc., a New York based umbrella organization that served as a trusteeship for the Jewish people in the immediate aftermath of the Holocaust. This organization distributed heirless and unidentifiable cultural materials to scholarly institutions in the United States, Israel, Europe and Latin America. The College of Jewish Studies received 7521 books, including 117 rare books, between July 1, 1949 and January 31, 1952. This book bears the bookplate of the Jewish Cultural Reconstruction.- Owner
