Fabrizio Quaglia clarifies that the Polish censorship stamp “Cenzura Ksia Zyd” is “cenzura ksiąg żydowskich w kom: rząd: wyzn: relig: os: pu:” short for “cenzura ksiąg żydowskich w komisji rządowej wyznań religijnych i oświecenia publicznego” (“Censorship of Jewish Books at the Government Committee of Religious Affairs and Public Education”); He adds that according to the website Schätze aus der Breslauersammlung in the black round Polish stamp “KAL:KSIA:ZYD GR:SR:L.” KAL: is referred to the city of Kalisz, KSIA to Książka (“book”), ZYD to “żydowskich” (“Jewish”), SR could be the initials of District Court (in Polish “Sąd Rejonowy”); a crowned eagle is depicted in the middle. Spec copy: Half leather over brown paper-covered boards; spine stamped in blind, lettered in black over red; spine has two hand-lettered paper labels; red edges.
