- Evidence description
- Arnould Vrolijk and Kasper van Ommen, eds.
- Notes
- presumably purchased during his time as ambassador of France in Constantinople and Venice 1562-1564. According to Kasper van Ommen, most of Hurault's books now in the Scaliger collection in Leiden (or which this is one) were acquired in Venice, some from Bomberg (including Bomberg's ms of the Jerusalem Talmud, now in Leiden--and recently studied by Yakov Meyer). ("Libraries and Scaliger's Legacy of Learning," in Christ Church Library Newsletter 6, 3, Trinity 2010, pp. 6-10.) Van Ommen also lists some other sources for Herault's collection, requiring further research.
