- Notes
- From Fabrizio Quaglia: On the first end flyleaf XVIIIc. Italian signature “Monsu Abram Pugliese” and pen tests, also in an incorrect Latin such as “ego Abramo Pulieses” and “Monsus. Abramo Puliesis hebreis”. In addition I noticed the XVII Italian signature “Io Jacob Pugliese heb.[re]o”, written from right to left. “Monsù” means “Mister”. It was an Italian adaptation of the French word “monsieur”, used especially in Piedmont since the XVIIth century in fact Pugliese was a Jewish surname of families chiefly in Vercelli and Alessandria.
