The only pre-1625 printing of the complete Mishneh Torah in 4 volumes is this one but the source does not give imprint date. Joseph is the name given to the author by Roth. Joseph indicates that he paid 6 scudi for the work. He also tells of a later dispute with the seller who took advantage of Joseph's absence from Siena to convince Joseph's brother that the book was a pledge for a loan of 3 scudi; Solomon pays the brother over time and takes the books back. Joseph returns in 1629 and tries to repay the 3 scudi and get his books back but Solomon wont budge. Solomon also lent one testone to the brother in pledge of a "humash et il mishna." Joseph tries to pay the loan and get his brother's book back but Solomon had already sold it. I am not sure what book is being referred to here (Roth translates it as a "Pentateuch with a Targum" [?]) so I have not created another footprint for that work.- Owner
