(“Appropriately to the decree on November 27, 1836. This book was revised by me in 1837. Shadov [now Šeduva, Lithuania]: Rabbi”) followed by signature Л. Гершонович (“L. Gershonovich”). I read in The Jewish Encyclopedia, III, New York and London, Funk and Wagnalls, 1902, p. 651, item “Censorship of Hebrew Books”, that “During the reign of Nicholas I.
