Translation: I confirm, Elazar son of respected master Yosef (may his memory be for the world to come), the scribe, Ashkenazi, that today, Thursday, exit of August AM 241 of the minor reckoning, I sold this book called Hoshen ha-Mishpat written in print to the agent of respected master Yitzhak (let him see his seed and prolong his days, amen) son of respected master Yosef (may his memory be for the world to come), and I received the money from his hand and I've forgiven the value of a (possible) fraud, will it be even a thousand dinars, and I ought to ... The date is not accurate for there was no 31st of August in AM 5241: this year began on the 5th of September 1480 and ended on the 24th of August 1481. It seems plausible that the error is in the indication of the "exit" of the month, not in the month itself or the year, so the deed of sale was written on some day of August 1481 (between the 1st and the 24th), i.e. six years after the printing of the incunabulum. The seller can be identified as the scribe of Ms. Parma, Biblioteca Palatina 2691 copied on the 4th of July 1477. Digitized book here: https://www.nli.org.il/en/books/NNL_ALEPH001032951/NLI- Owner
