https://data.cerl.org/mei/02123905 generalNotes: Created by Rahel Fronda. msNote: Pencilled note at the front: "Portions of a hitherto un[...?] edition of a portion of the Hebrew Bible, the printing of which was begun at Lisbon in 1492 and completed in Leiria in 1494. Recovered from a Geniza and purchased through Dr. C. D. Ginsburg, 1910". There are two typed pages of text to this effect, and a further note, in pen, on a slip of paper: "Sotheby's sale 23rd May 1929 offered lot no. 4...a portion of the excessively rare Leiria edition of the Former Prophets...I examined these leaves comparing them with the B[ible] H[ouse] no. 5077c [this copy) which I took to Sotheby's for the purpose. They belong to the same edition. I offered £25 but they were sold for £35". This is dated May 1929. bindingNote: 20th century blind-tooled calf over wooden boards; sewn on four supports; with metal clasps; imprint details in gilt on the spine.
