https://data.cerl.org/mei/02123328 generalNotes: Created by Alexander Gordin. note: Handwritten notes on the initially blank pages between the books of Samuel and the Kings. On Kings, fol. i, 1r an Italian note with many Hebrew insertions on a lady named Fiora who passed away on Heshvan 24, AM 5504 (=11.11.1743). On Samuel, fol. viii, 8v a long Hebrew note: Translation: Sing to the Lord a new song, for He performed wonders, His right hand and His holy arm have brought salvation. His kindness has overwhelmed us, the kindness of the Lord is eternal, for our enemies did not succeed to conquer us as they wish to push us into grave well, deep pit, mouth of weirdness, to approach to its entrance to go wrong in the mirages, vanity of vanities, as He did on this day when He released the soul of my daughter Smiralta (blessed among women, amen) from all the disaster and brought her from darkness to light on Wednesday, 24 of the first month of Adar, and in their reckoning 25 February 1756. Thus may the Lord save her from every enemy and bad trouble, to preserve her heart for serving the Creator always, and let she be saved from flaming fire, from which decent and proper sons exited. Let our eyes will see and our hearts will rejoice with the chosen Temple, and the flags on the mountings will manifest the kingdom of the King of the kings for all the generations. Amen, let it be His will. Occasional notes to the printed text, such as signs for Haftarot portions, reading notes (עד כאן meaning "till here"), all in Italian hand.- Owner
