CJS copy with a lengthy inscription on the final page; this is an entreaty for the coming of the Messiah immediately. The writer cites verses from the scripture, including the indication of oppression of the Jewish people at the hands of their neighbors in exile; the author quotes a passage in the Talmud (Sanhedrin 97a) that "six thousand years [is the length of] the world, and the final two thousand years are years of [the arrival of] the Messiah", and prays that "[since] there are so few left (to the final two thousand years), only six hundred... if not now, when (from Mishnah Avot 1:14). There is also a calculation that the Messiah must arrive during that year, 1608. The inscription is signed Zekhariah ibn Saʼadiyah ibn Yaʼaḳov.- Owner
