written a few times as test of pen by a young owner of the book or borrowing from his father's library? or note since there is also "abram da fano" so just some kid putting together name + Italian city? From Fabrizio Quaglia: In an Italian XVI c. script it was inscribed “La ragione uede q[ue]llo dourebbe esser / ma non per auuentura q[u]el c[he] sarà"; this sentence was copied by an unknown to me “Dauid da Pisa” (on this page also as “Dauitto”), since calligraphy is the same, and is a quotation from a letter by the poet Bernardo Tasso (1493-1569), Torquato’s father: “[...] l’occhio della ragione; la qual vede ciò che dovrebbe essere; ma non per avventura ciò che sarà.”. B. Tasso’s Lettere were printed for the first time in 1549. This is an example of the Jewish intercourse with non-Hebrew culture. The Italian quotation is partially repeated and is present on verso of front fly-leaf, too.- Owner
