All notes by Chaim Meiselman: notes Title and subtitle are displayed in bold on the t.p., with the words ’Yoreh De’ah’ in lithography. Printers device on the title. Haskamah on this edition from Josef b. Menahem Steinhardt of Fürth, dated 22 Tevet (Fri. 3 Jan.) 1766. The extended title statement appears to mimic other such printer-inscriptions, explaining that the commentary had been previously printed yet had become rare since those disseminations (portions printed in 1692, 1730 in Amsterdam, and so on) and . The verse from this statement, used to promote this edition, is used in the chronogram: Lev. 1:10, and you shall have to clear out the old to make room for the new, hinting at the title’s translation New Fruits. However - this title statement carries specific meaning to the imprint, because the author was faced with a literary ban from the Cairo rabbinate because of issues of the novellae in the work on Yoreh De’ah; this is cited in Lazarus Grünhut’s article on the author in the 1906 Jewish Encyclopedia, and in detail in Joseph Heimann Michael, (heb.) ’Or ha-Ḥaim (Frankfurt, 1891), pg. 373, or no. 835:א. references Friedberg, Beit Eked Sefarim, pei 727, third count, no. 3. Strauss, Berthold, Cat. of the B. Strauss library, no. 4805. Joseph Heimann Michael, (heb.) ’Or ha-Ḥaim (Frankfurt, 1891), 835:א.
