All notes by Chaim Meiselman: notes This is the first and only printing of Elia Spira’s Talmudic novellae, which carry the same name as his Halakhic novellae. While the Halakhic works of Spira were at this point published a few times, Elia b. Wolff of Fürth, grandson to the author, brought this volume to print. The latter writes a paragraph of introduction on the recto of leaf 2. Title features a crown-wreath with angelic figures; printer’s devices and flora design throughout. Has censorship statement by Leopoldus Tirsch, S.J.; Leopold Tirsch (1733-1788; spelled Tyrš later) was an orientalist and Hebrew specialist known for his work as a censor of Hebrew books in Prague. Haskamot of Joseph b. Menahem Steinhardt of Fürth, dated 2 Iyyar 1768; Ezekiel Landau of Prague, 25 Adar 1768; Nathaniel Weill of Kahrlsruhe and the Baden-Durlach Margraviate, 12 Iyyar 1768; Eizek Kahana-Rapaport of Wallerstein in Swabia (Bavaria), 1768. references Steinschneider, M.
