Tanakh

All notes by Chaim Meiselman: This is a set of Tanakh, or the Hebrew Bible, printed in Frankfurt an der Oder, a town easternmost in Brandenburg, Germany, on the border of Poland on the Oder River. In the historical order of Hebrew printing in Frankfurt an der Oder, the Tanakh was printed there in 1551 and re-released in 1595 by the brothers Johann and Friedrich Hartmann in both octavo and sextodecimo formats (Vinograd); this is the sextodecimo version. According to the Bibliography of the Hebrew Book, this edition was a re-issue of the Wittenburg 1587 edition. Woodcut title page decoration. Catchwords at the bottom of every verso page. Printed in single column in a square font; all words vocalized and with Hebrew cantillation. The colophon reads: "Sumptibus Johannis & Friderici... Hartmannorum Bibliopolarum, Francofurti ad Oderam, Anno 1595."
