Transl: the author Meir son of Zalman Shif, who rose to head the academy begun by Leib son of R.A. (Eliyahu) Reiss, and (Shif) is the Head of Beth-Din in Frankfurt Am-Main. Chronogram: לפרט ו'ל'ב'ב'י' ר'ח'ש' דבר טוב. Steinschneider, Catalogus Libris Hebraeorum,6326:1. Ben-Jakob, Otsar HaSefarim, daled 403. Friedberg, Beit Eked Sefarim, daled 1114.Derekh Aniyah, trans. "Voyage of the Ship", is the title of the work, taken from Proverbs 30:19. "The way of an eagle in the air; the way of a serpent on a rock; , and the way of a man with a maid.". Common practice of Rabbinic writing is to not write y. and h. together, and to replace y. with an elipsis - hence the title statement "Derekh Aniy' ". The author's name, Shif, is probably the meaning of his naming the volume "Way of the Ship". Printed in double columns.- Place
