        jlo:hasAbstract  "Der Jüdische Nationalfonds wurde 1901 in Basel von Johann Kremenezky im Auftrag und auf Initiative Theodor Herzls als Wegbereiter eines jüdischen Staates gegründet. Bis 1948 betrieb er vor allem den Landerwerb für jüdische Siedler im britischen Mandatsgebiet Palästina, gestützt auf finanzielle Hilfe durch die jüdischen Gemeinden weltweit. Seit Gründung des Staates Israel engagiert sich der Jüdische Nationalfonds bei der Kultivierung des Landes, u.a. durch die Anpflanzung von 260 Millionen Bäumen (Stand 2006). Seit einem Abkommen mit der israelischen Regierung im Jahre 1961 ist die Organisation für Aufforstung und Forstwirtschaft zuständig. Der Schwerpunkt seiner Aktivitäten liegt in der Bewirtschaftung und Vermehrung der knappen Wasserressourcen des Landes"@de;
